The Long Version

As you would have guessed by now, I’m an avid gamer, not because of my World of Warcraft addiction – that’s such a strong word, let’s use, World of Warcraft enthusiast instead – and not because of a little title called StarCraft 2 where I’ve been ranking high on the leaderboards, but because I enjoy having some down time, just like everyone else here. You’re probably thinking where this is going? Bare with me…

I got my first kick of programming when I needed a simple website for my guild in World of Warcraft, so like any likeminded folk, I decided that this is something I could do. Between homework and part-time work at the local retail chain, I was found in front of the computer learning the basics of HTML, then some JavaScript, which eventually moved to the full LAMP stack. So now I had a website where potential guild members could submit an application to join.

That’s when I decided that the logical side of my brain flourished and got that little kick out of watching something run for the first time. I made some games throughout high school, which eventually landed me in some hot water as everyone was playing them. Then, I went all in and applied for a Bachelor of Information Technology at Griffith University on the Gold Coast. I got in.

I graduated in 2009 with my degree working as a contractor for a local IT joint. In 2012, an opportunity presented itself that I could not say no to. Within that same year, in fact mere weeks of starting, I met Eliza. We got married in 2016, hopped across the pond for a honeymoon in New Zealand. 2017 I changed jobs, working for a company who has a presence in many countries within the global trade (read: programming an application that helps businesses ship stuff in containers).

2016, we started a business together called White Fox Studios soon after we got back from New Zealand. Combining my love of photography and her already established name in the wedding photography world, it was a perfect match. I am so honoured to be part of that, we have met some amazing couples over the last few years, and I can’t wait to see what the future holds!

This is the fun part, in July 2019, I became a father to a beautiful baby girl, Scout. Every day, I can’t wait to get home and see that smile on her little face. Just look at her! Baby spam? #sorrynotsorry

We now arrive at 2020, what does the future hold? Not sure yet, but I made a long term goal of becoming a Certified AWS Professional, which I will take you on an adventure (see Projects for more - when I start it). There’s also a small personal fitness goal that I’m working on.

You know, I wasn’t sure where this was going when I started this page, but I’m glad we went on this journey together.
